Bright X-ray pulsars: how outflows influence beaming, pulsations and pulse phase lags

چکیده
Extreme accretion in X-ray pulsars (XRPs) results radiation-driven outflows launched from the inner parts of disc. The affect apparent luminosity XRPs and their pulsations through geometrical beaming. We model processes beaming pulse formation using Monte Carlo simulations. confirm our earlier statement that strong amplification due to collimation photons is inconsistent with a large pulsed fraction. Accounting for relativistic aberration possibly high outflow velocity ($\sim 0.2c$) does not this conclusion. demonstrate causes phase lags pulsations. Within opening angle cavity formed by outflows, tend be sensitive observers viewing angles. Variations geometry corresponding changes might influence detectability pulsation bright ULXs. speculate associated radiation pressure on walls multiple reflections. expect mass loss rate limits beaming: becomes possible only under sufficiently fractional

Deep Searches for Radio Pulsations and Bursts from Four Southern Anomalous X-ray Pulsars
We have searched for persistent radio pulsations, bright single pulses, and bursts from four Southern anomalous X-ray pulsars (AXPs). Deep observations were conducted at 1.4GHz in 1999 July and August with the Parkes 64-m telescope. For all of the target AXPs, the upper limits on integrated pulsed emission are ∼ 0.02mJy, while the limits on the flux of single pulses are ∼ 1 Jy or better. The co...
متن کامل(Anomalous) X-ray Pulsars
Prior to the commissioning of BeppoSAX and the Rossi X-ray Timing Observatory in 1996, the so-called “Anomalous” X-ray Pulsars (AXPs) were considered very mysterious sources, because the energy source for their bright X-ray emission was unknown. At the time, there were only 3 known members of this class. They were distinguished by having periods in the narrow range 6–9 s, showing approximately ...
متن کاملX-ray lines, progenitor and beaming of Gamma-Ray Bursts
X-ray emission features have been detected in at least five GRB afterglows. Their detection and properties are of great importance in our understanding of the nature of the GRB progenitor. Moreover, they provide us with an uncollimated source of photons, allowing us to put firm constraints on the total energy produced in GRBs, and therefore on their degree of collimation. I will review the radi...
متن کاملTiming Characteristics of the Hard X-ray Emission from Bright X-ray Pulsars Based on INTEGRAL Data
We review the results of a timing analysis of the observations for ten bright X-ray pulsars (with fluxes > 100 mCrab in the 20-100 keV energy band) that fell within the INTEGRAL field of view from 2003 to 2007. The dependence of the pulse profile on the energy and intrinsic source luminosity has been investigated; particular attention has been paid to searching for changes in the pulse profile ...
